So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 2 Corinthians 5:18-20
Ambassadors are official representatives of another person or country. They do not give their own opinions or enter into agreements on their own. They speak for the one who sent them, and they go in the full authority of that person. Paul tells us that we are such ambassadors, and the one we represent is Christ Himself. Can you imagine? We speak on behalf of the Son of God.
The message we are to communicate is clear. Our message is reconciliation. We are not sent to judge or condemn or to give sanctions or warnings; we are sent with a message of reconciliation between humans and God. God sent Christ to reconcile the world to Himself. We received that message. Now we have been given the same task Christ had, thus becoming Christ’s ambassadors. We relate His message of reconciliation to others. He speaks through us. Let us be faithful to the task.
Personal reflection: Does it change your vision of sharing with others when you realize that you are Christ’s ambassador, speaking on His behalf? Our message is the same as His: “Come back to God”.
