Book of Acts

Introduction

The Book of Acts describes the early days of the church and the spread of the gospel from Jerusalem to the world. It is mainly a historical narrative that captivates the reader by recounting the lives and actions of early believers.
The title used for the book comes from the Greek word ‘praxis’ which means actions or functions. It focuses on many actions: various disciples, the early church, Peter and Paul, all directed and empowered by the Holy Spirit to establish and share the gospel, the good news that Jesus is the Messiah and both Jew and Gentile are invited to follow Him.

Lesson 1

Acts, Chapter 1

Both the book of Acts and the Gospel of Luke are attributed to Luke. From Acts 16:9-10, and other passages, it records that Luke was a ministry partner of Paul. Colossians 4:14 tells us that Luke was a physician.
